Speaker: Dr. Erica Burkland, DVM, DACVIM

Originally from the New York City suburbs, Dr. Erica Burkland received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York in 2007. She then pursued graduate study in social work at the University of Pennsylvania before deciding to enter the field of veterinary medicine. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University in 2014. Dr. Burkland then completed a rotating internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City from 2014-2015 followed by a neurology specialty internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego from 2015-2016, during which time she fell in love with southern California. She then completed a three-year residency in neurology and neurosurgery at Mississippi State University from 2016-2019. Dr. Burkland became board certified in Neurology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2019.
