Program Title: OncoK9, Liquid biopsy for non-invasive multi-cancer detection and characterization in dogs

Program Description: Blood-based liquid biopsy for veterinary applications will be introduced, including a review of the current clinical approach to cancer diagnosis, and opportunities for cell-free DNA based liquid biopsy testing in dogs. Multiple clinical use cases for liquid biopsy in cancer detection will be described, including screening for early detection; aid in diagnosis; and monitoring for residual or recurrent disease.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the origins of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) in the setting of cancer
  2. Identify clinical scenarios in which liquid biopsy testing may be useful
  3. Recognize areas for future research in the field of veterinary oncology diagnostics

Speaker: Gina Brandstetter, DVM

 

Biography: Dr. Gina Brandstetter is a veterinarian and a Medical Science Liaison at PetDx. Dr. Brandstetter graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and worked in small animal general practice before entering industry. She enjoys spreading the news about new veterinary innovations, so she is thrilled to speak about liquid biopsy cancer detection!
