Summary:  The lecture will review the stages of wound healing to help understand the multiple factors affecting the clinician when making decisions in wound management. The presentation will also discuss some of the more commonly used dressings and alternative methodologies for wound management.

 

Speaker: Dr. Rodrigo Roca

Bio: Dr. Rodrigo Roca recently completed a surgical residency at Oklahoma State University before moving back to his hometown in Los Angeles. His additional surgical experience includes a surgical internship in Austin, TX and a rotating internship at Tufts University in North Grafton, MA. 

Dr. Roca has broad experience in soft tissue, surgical oncology, surgical neurology, and orthopedic cases. He has a keen interest in fracture management, degenerative joint disease, and joint replacement. Dr. Roca contributed his research towards extracapsular and biomechanical altering procedures for cruciate disease in canines. Other topics have included novel methods for fracture fixation in raptors, differences in outcomes for positioning of perineal urethrostomy procedures, and addressing the impact of telemedicine between clients and veterinarians.  

Currently, he focuses his surgical practice on minimally invasive techniques for orthopedic and soft tissue cases. He works closely with our rehabilitation, cardiology, neurology, critical care, nutrition, and internal medicine services to provide the best care for your beloved pets.
