Taming Tangle- Navigating The Tangle of Grief in Veterinary Practice

In this lecture, participants will gain simple, practical tools to navigate clients’, personal, and team members’ grief in veterinary practice confidently and thus improve day-to-day ease, harmony, efficiency, and productivity and reduce compassion fatigue.

 


Speaker: Dr. Birgitte Tan, DVM, DACVIM(Oncology), Certified Grief Specialist, Certified Trauma Response Practitioner, Certified LifeMastery Consultant

Bio: Dr. Birgitte Tan obtained her B.S. in Nutrition from Washington State University and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University Of Wisconsin School Of Veterinary Medicine. She has been a primary care veterinarian since 1999 in both Wisconsin and the greater Los Angeles area. Dr. Tan was accepted into an internship program in oncology in 2006. She completed her residency program in June of 2010. Dr. Tan became board certified in medical oncology with the ACVIM in 2012.

After years of seeing the impact of grief on her oncology clients, and having been through a multitude of grief herself, she understands how grief affects our daily life, and the importance of being able to recover fully from grief. As a Grief Recovery Specialist, she has turned her heartbreak and failures into timeless treasure of being able to create a truly joyful fulfilling life for herself and even better still, helping many people do the same but with more ease and grace and efficiency.
