Lecture Objective:
We will look at utility of various diagnostics for dyspnea/acute left-sided congestive heart failure (LCHF)
- Quick assessment with signalment, history, and PE
- Diagnostic test of choice
We will review general treatment of acute CHF idn dogs and cats
- Consensus for treatment of DCM, MVD, and HCM
- Refractory patients
- Possible complications
Speaker: Carley Saelinger, VMD, DACVIM (Cardiology)
After graduating with her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Carly Saelinger completed a one-year rotating internship at the University of Florida, followed by a cardiology internship and cardiology residency at the Louisiana State University. Dr. Saelinger is board certified with the ACVIM in the specialty of Cardiology.
Dr. Saelinger’s clinical interests include medical and surgical treatment of arrhythmias: implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) placement, programming, and defibrillation; optimizing pacemaker programming for individual canine patients; and pathophysiology & treatment of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) of Boxers and English Bulldogs.
Dr. Saelinger has been practicing at VCA ASEC in West Los Angeles since August 2012
