Why a Corneal Ulcer Does Not Heal
The cornea, the transparent front layer of the eye, plays a vital role in maintaining clear vision. A corneal ulcer, an open sore on the cornea, often arises due to infections, trauma, or underlying conditions. While most corneal ulcers heal with prompt medical attention, some cases present a significant challenge, showing delayed or incomplete healing. Understanding why a corneal ulcer fails to heal is crucial for effective management and preventing complications such as vision loss. Factors such as persistent infection, inadequate treatment, systemic conditions, or improper care of underlying causes can hinder the healing process. This discussion delves into the multifaceted reasons behind non-healing corneal ulcers, emphasizing the importance of accurate diagnosis and tailored therapeutic approaches to restore ocular health
