SPEAKER

Elizabeth Marie Rush, BS, DVM, Dipl. ACZM (Zoo)

Dr. Marie Rush graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Animal and Dairy Science and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree, completed a rotating medicine and surgery internship at the Animal Medical Center (AMC) in New York City, followed by a residency in clinical zoo and wildlife medicine and surgery at the Wildlife Conservation Society, with focus training in advanced diagnostics imaging at AMC. She has worked at the Birmingham Zoo, served as faculty for Auburn university and St. George’s University’s Colleges of Veterinary Medicine, veterinarian for the Southeastern Raptor Center, and has wildlife field conservation research in multiple countries. Dr. Rush has been a full-time member of the imaging team for Antech Imaging Services since 2015, and works exclusively with zoo, exotics and wildlife species diagnostic imaging. She continues to enjoy working as a consulting and relief zoo veterinarian, and as a visiting professor at both AUCVM and SGUSVM every year. She also continues clinical practice with exotics species medicine and surgery. She is a Senior Research Fellow at the Winward Islands Research and Education Foundation and is honored to have been chosen by her students at SGU as a Banfield Golden Apple Award winning professor. She enjoys mountain biking, artwork, reading, wildlife photography and hiking, and loves the menagerie of animals who share her life and home.
