Speakers & Bios:
Dr. Jennifer Sinatra DVM, MPH DACVPM is a public health veterinarian at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. She consults on human and animal rabies exposures, leads investigations into infectious disease outbreaks, and worked to advise veterinarians and the public about the ongoing work of the Veterinary Public Health Program. Dr. Sinatra practiced as an equine practitioner, but has been in public health for over 10 years, working for the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service and as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer with the CDC prior to joining LA County Public Health in 2019. She went to Bowdoin College for her undergraduate degree, received her veterinary degree from Colorado State University, and her Master of Public Health degree from Emory University.
Dr. Michelle Chang, DVM, MPH is a public health veterinarian at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. She has overseen the rabies, animal bites, and animal importation sections of the Veterinary Public Health Program. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has helped address COVID-19 concerns from both the medical community and the public, and now co-manages the COVID-19 Physician Consultation Line. Prior to working in public health she worked in small animal practice. She received her veterinary degree from UC Davis, and both her bachelor’s degree and Master of Public Health degree from UC Berkeley.
Dr. Emily Beeler, DVM, MPH, DACVPM is currently Liaison for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 Response Team. Before the pandemic, she worked primarily on animal disease surveillance and emerging infectious disease epidemiology and bioterrorism. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA and Western University. She worked for 9 years as a small animal veterinarian in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County before joining Public Health in 2005. She received her B.S. in Biology from Yale University, her DVM from the Ohio State University, and her MPH from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
